Our story
Built on botanicals since 1990
Elmar was founded in 1990 by Mrs. Nguyen Thi Tam as a local producer of herbal tea, botanical powders and retail tea packages. What began as a one-woman workshop grew a small team for administration, warehousing and distribution, and by 1994 Elmar products were sold in more than 20 provinces across northern Vietnam.
Since 2018 the company has been led by the second generation, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Son. Under his leadership Elmar moved into export, shipping cinnamon, star anise and dehydrated agricultural products to Europe, North and South America, the Middle East and Asia.
Today Elmar specialises in spices and botanicals from the forests and mountains of Vietnam, with an R&D team that researches new plants for their potential to food, beverage and nutraceutical customers.

How we got here
Founded in Hanoi
Mrs. Nguyen Thi Tam starts producing herbal tea and botanical powders for the local market.
Northern distribution
Elmar herbal products reach more than 20 provinces across northern Vietnam.
Farm and packing base in Hai Duong
Growing, washing and packing fresh vegetables beside the Thai Binh river, with cold storage and reefer shipments to Asia and the Middle East.
Second generation, first exports
Mr. Nguyen Thanh Son takes the lead and opens export markets for cinnamon, star anise and dehydrated products.
9,000 tonnes of cassia
Elmar ships more than 9,000 tonnes of cassia products in a single year to over 30 countries.
Two certified factories, 60+ markets
30,000 m² of processing space, FDA, ISO 22000:2018, HACCP and Kosher certification, and around 800 tonnes of spices shipped every month.
