The Import-Export Department (Ministry of Industry and Trade) said that in 10 months of 2022, this country’s pepper imports reached 76.11 thousand tonnes, worth about 379.8 million USD, down by 5.4% in volume but up by 27.9% in value over the same period in 2021.

In 11 months of 2021, France imported 4,795 tonnes of pepper from Vietnam, worth 15.6 million EUR (equal to 18 million USD), up 14.8% in volume and 49.2% in value over the same period in 2020.

The US’s average import price of pepper in 10 months of 2022 reached 4,990 USD/tonne, up 35.2% over the same period in 2021. In particular, the US’s average import price of pepper increased sharply from most major supplies, except China, which decreased by 2.4% to 4,142 USD/tonne.

In 10 months of 2022, the US’s pepper imports decreased sharply from Brazil and India but increased from Vietnam, Indonesia, and China.

Vietnam is the largest source of pepper for the US in 10 months of 2022, reaching about 55.77 thousand tonnes, worth 275.31 million USD, up 1.1% in volume and 38.7% in value over the same period in 2021.

Vietnam’s share of pepper in the total imports of the US increased from 68.55% in 10 months of 2021 to 73.27% in 10 months of 2022.

In contrast, the US reduced pepper imports from Brazil in 10 months of 2022, reaching 5.8 thousand tonnes, worth 26.73 million USD, down 37.5% in volume and 8.4% in value over the same period in 2021. Brazil’s share of pepper in the total imports of the US fell from 11.55% in 10 months of 2021 to 7.63% in 10 months of 2022./.
