Vietnam is currently the largest supplier of cashews to the Netherlands, accounting for 76.81% in volume and 75.02% in value of the total cashew imports from non-EU markets to this country.
According to statistics from the Customs Department, in the first quarter of 2025, Vietnam’s cashew exports to the Netherlands grew significantly in both volume and value.
Specifically, Vietnam exported nearly 12,000 tons of cashews to this market, with a turnover of 85.5 million USD. The result is an increase of 16.7% in volume and 49% in value compared to the same period in 2024.
The proportion of cashew exports to the Netherlands also increased significantly, from 6.8% to 9.8% of the total export volume in the first quarter of 2025.
The W320 cashew variety continues to be the key product, accounting for 84.1% of the total export volume to the Netherlands in the first two months of 2025, reaching 6,073 tons, valued at 42.2 million USD. It is an increase of 23.4% and 49.1%, respectively, compared to the same period last year.
Other types of cashews, such as W240, WS-WB, and SP, also saw impressive increases in export value. Especially, the export price of SP cashew increased by 122.3% (the highest among varieties).
Vietnam is the largest supplier of cashews to the Netherlands.
According to the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the average export price to the Netherlands in the first two months was 7,034 USD/ton, up 25.2% compared to the same period in 2024. Specifically, in January 2025, the average price was 7,138 USD/ton, an increase of 18.1% compared to January 2024.
According to the Center for Industrial and Trade Information and the Department of Import-Export (Ministry of Industry and Trade), Vietnam is now the largest supplier of cashews to the Netherlands, accounting for 76.81% in volume and 75.02% in value of the total cashew nut imports from non-EU markets to this country.
Experts said that the increase in cashew exports to the Netherlands shows the improving competitiveness of Vietnamese cashews (in terms of quality, appearance, and ability to meet high-end market standards).
These growth figures also reflect the expanding trend of healthy consumption in Europe, where cashews are favored as a snack and an ingredient in the functional food industry.
Vietnam has been one of the largest cashew nut exporting countries in the world for 18 consecutive years, accounting for over 80% of the global export volume. Notably, Binh Phuoc province has a cashew cultivation area of over 152,000 hectares, accounting for nearly 50% of the country’s total cashew area, with 1,400 processing facilities.
The demand for cashew nuts in the domestic and international markets is forecast to increase due to the growing trend of healthy snacking. Cashew is a nutritious food with an ever-expanding export market. The Vietnam Cashew Association expects that cashew nut exports will bring in about 4.5 billion USD this year.
