In spite of significant market pressure and increasingly strict requirements from importing countries, Vietnam’s agricultural exports are experiencing strong growth thanks to many key products, including cashews.
According to data from the Customs Department, Vietnam’s cashew nut exports in November 2025 reached 68.7 thousand tons, valued at 474.5 million USD. This result represents double-digit growth compared to November 2024.
Overall for the first 11 months of 2025, Vietnam’s cashew nut exports reached 696,000 tons, worth 4.7 billion USD. This is an increase of 4% in volume and 19% in value compared to the same period last year. Furthermore, it is the highest figure ever, with the prospect of exceeding 5 billion USD for the entire year.
China remains Vietnam’s largest cashew export market, with 159,000 tons, valued at over 1 billion USD. This is an increase of 35% in volume and 49% in value compared to the same period in 2024.
Vietnam earned 4.7 billion USD from cashew exports in 11 months.
China has maintained its position as the leading importer of Vietnamese cashews from April 2025 to now, except for July. US tariffs have made it difficult for cashew exporting businesses, forcing them to expand into alternative markets. China is a favorable option due to its short distance and stable demand.
Chinese consumers and importers are heavily impacted by tariffs on US agricultural products. Nuts imported from the US, such as almonds, pecans, or walnuts, have tripled or quadrupled in price, making Vietnamese cashews a reasonable alternative in terms of both price and quality. From April to October 2025, Vietnamese cashew nut exports into China increased significantly, ranging from 45% to 137% each month.
Conversely, Vietnam’s cashew nut exports to the US and Dutch markets decreased in the first 11 months of 2025. Exports to the US decreased by 26% in volume and 17% in value. Exports to the Dutch market decreased by 2% in volume but increased by 20% in value compared to the same period in 2024.
In addition to China, Vietnam’s cashew exports to several other markets in the first 11 months of 2025 also increased significantly compared to the same period in 2024, including Germany, the UK, Saudi Arabia, and Lithuania.
Thanks to the outstanding economic value and health benefits of cashews, especially the world-leading processing technology, Vietnam has decided to introduce the “golden tree” to grow in Cuba. The collaboration to cultivate 2,000 hectares of cashew trees is not just a project but also a pioneering step for the expansion and development of Vietnamese cashew trees in Cuba.
