According to statistics from the Customs Department, coffee exports in June reached over 117,000 tons with a value of over 677 million USD. This is a decrease of 20.7% in volume and 21.2% in value compared to May.

In the first half of 2025, Vietnam exported over 947,000 tons of coffee, worth more than 5.4 billion USD. This is an increase of 4.5% in volume but a significant increase of 66.2% in value compared to the same period last year.

In terms of the market, three European countries are the largest customers of Vietnamese coffee. Germany is leading with over 149,000 tons, valued at over 824 million USD. This is an increase of 33% in volume and 115% in value compared to the same period last year. The price increased by 62%, equivalent to 5,515 USD/ton.

Russia and Europe are racing to hunt for a ‘gold mine’ from Vietnam.

In second place is Italy with over 76,000 tons, worth more than 409 million USD. This is a decrease of 11% in volume but a significant increase of 48% in value compared to the same period last year. Prices also increased sharply by 67%, averaging 5,315 USD/ton.

Spain is the third-largest customer with over 69,000 tons, valued at over 403 million USD, an increase of 8% in volume and 70% in value compared to the same period last year. The average price is 5,807 USD/ton, a significant increase of 58%.

Besides Europe, coffee exports to Russia are also witnessing a significant increase in value. Specifically, Vietnam exported over 47,000 tons, with a value of over 264 million USD. This is a slight decrease of 5% in volume but an increase of 39% in value. The average price was 5,617 USD/ton, an increase of 47% compared to the same period in 2025.

In Russia, coffee is becoming an indispensable part of the lives of young people. They like to drink cappuccino, latte, espresso, and black coffee without sugar. While in Western countries, takeaway coffee is increasingly popular, Russians still maintain the traditional habit of visiting their favorite coffee shops.

The most important conditions for coffee to grow well are a temperate or tropical climate, where there is no frost, plenty of sunshine, and water. However, due to the cold weather characteristics, coffee is not grown in this country.

Data from Stir, a specialized site analyzing tea and coffee products, shows that coffee consumption in Russia has significantly increased over the past 30 years. Analysts said that since 1991, the per capita coffee consumption in Russia has increased significantly.

According to the Rosselkhozbank Industrial Examination Center, currently, the average Russian drinks about 300 cups of coffee each year, equivalent to 60 liters per person and 8.76 billion liters for the entire country.

The general export tax on coffee is 0%. Based on the analysis of experts and regulatory agencies, Vietnam’s coffee export turnover has achieved impressive results recently due to a significant increase in global coffee prices while global supply has tightened. Along with that is the recovery of demand from major markets such as the EU, the US, Japan, South Korea, and China. Vietnam’s coffee exports in 2025 are forecast to reach a new record, with a turnover potentially exceeding 7 billion USD and possibly reaching 7.5 billion USD.
