After the trading session on the London floor (UK) on September 12 (local time), the price of Robusta coffee delivered in November increased to an average of $5,077/ton, an increase of 69 USD/ton compared to yesterday. The highest recorded price is 5,115 USD/ton, up 107 USD/ton.
The price of Robusta coffee delivered in January 2025 is quite high, 4,816 USD/ton.
A new coffee harvest is about to come in Vietnam. Supply is increasing, but prices are up as buyers see a poor harvest due to droughts from the start of the season. Not only Vietnam but also Brazil is in a similar situation; as a result, coffee prices keep increasing.
Currently, the price of green coffee in localities is between 125,000 and 130,000 VND/kg, which has been quite stable in the past few days. Compared to the “peak” at the end of April, the domestic price of coffee is still 5,000–10,000 VND/kg lower.
Robusta coffee costs more than 5,000 USD/ton.
The price of raw coffee has increased, making it difficult for coffee shops to keep the price or only increase the price slightly to keep customers. Experts in the Food and Beverage Service (F&B) business said that the cost of coffee before was less than 20%, but now it has increased to 25-30%, even 50% with affordable models.
According to the Vietnam Coffee-Cocoa Association (VICOFA), coffee exports in August continued to decline due to a supply decrease, with an output of 73,223 tons and an export turnover of about 399.72 million USD. The result decreased by about 13.4% in volume, but turnover increased by about 54.8% over the same period last year due to increased prices. The average export price of Robusta coffee in August was 4,865 USD/ton.
In the first 8 months of 2024, Vietnam exported over 1.05 million tons of coffee, with an export turnover of nearly 4.04 billion USD. The coffee volume was down by 12.5%, but the turnover increased by 36.4% over the same period in 2023.
