World rice production tends to decrease, while consumption demand increases.

According to forecasts by the US Department of Agriculture, global rice production in the 2023-2024 season will reach about 518 million tons. Meanwhile, total consumption is  525 million tons, an increase of 2.8 million tons compared to the previous year.

Experts say that the import demand of all countries has increased. Therefore, rice exports in 2024 will be positive if India still restricts exports.

Traditional markets remain well. However, the world economy has many fluctuations, competition, and unstable supply. Therefore, experts recommend that Vietnam’s rice industry continue to structure, strengthen linkages, review standards of the international market, evaluate, and forecast long-term needs and tastes as well as prioritize trade promotion and trade connection to promote exports. Currently, Vietnam’s rice is available in 150 countries and territories./.
