On February 14, 2025, the price of pepper in the domestic market continues to drop sharply by about 2,000 VND/kg. Currently, the price has decreased to 160,000 VND/kg.
Specifically, in Gia Lai province, the pepper price has turned to decrease strongly after previous increases, with a drop of 2,500 VND/kg. Now, the purchasing price is around 159,000 VND/kg. Similarly, the price of pepper in Binh Phuoc and Dak Nong also decreased by 2,000 VND/kg compared to the last trading session, with the current prices in these two provinces being 159,000 VND/kg and 160,000 VND/kg, respectively. The pepper price in Ba Ria – Vung Tau decreased by 2,000 VND/kg to 159,000 VND/kg. The price in Dak Lak continues to decline by 2,000 VND/kg compared to the last trading session, with the current price here being 160,000 VND/kg.
Experts believe that pepper prices may continue to rise in the short term, especially if the Chinese market, one of the largest customers of Vietnamese pepper, increases its imports again. However, pepper prices may stabilize due to the supply from the new harvest.
In addition, the price of pepper has decreased in the last two sessions, but the market is still on an upward trend thanks to the purchasing pace of important markets like the US and China. Enterprises need to closely monitor market trends and purchasing activities from partners to develop appropriate business plans.
Pepper prices in the domestic market continue to drop.
Currently, the pepper-growing provinces in the Central Highlands have begun the main harvest, but this process is slower than in previous years due to a labor shortage and the impact of climate change.
In this year’s pepper harvest, farmers are very excited because of the high prices. This has encouraged them to continue investing in their gardens and improving product quality. However, the yield in some areas has decreased due to weather. In Dak Nong, the pepper area remains stable at 34,000 hectares, with an average yield of about 2.4 tons per hectare and a total production of about 70,000 tons per year.
According to the Vietnam Pepper and Spice Association (VPSA), in 2025, global pepper production is forecast to continue declining. Meanwhile, stable demand is a driving force for Vietnam’s pepper exports.
The International Pepper Community (IPC) on February 14, 2025, reported that the market is vibrant again. The price of pepper in Brazil has increased significantly by 100 USD/ton. In Indonesia, the price has also increased slightly. Other countries maintained stable prices at high levels.
The Vietnamese black pepper export market continues to be stable and slightly increases. Specifically, the export price of Vietnamese black pepper currently is 6,500 USD/ton for the 500 g/l type and 6,650 USD/ton for the 550 g/l type. The price of white pepper is 9,550 USD/ton.
In January 2025, Brazil exported 4,339 tons of pepper, worth 27.1 million USD. Although the export volume decreased by 28.1% compared to the same period last year, the export value increased by 36.9%. Vietnam is Brazil’s largest market, accounting for 28.6% with 1,242 tons, followed by countries such as the UAE, India, Senegal, and Egypt.
