The price of pepper fluctuates around 137,000–140,000 VND/kg, with the highest price recorded in Dak Lak. This is making many pepper buyers who are stocking pepper anxious. Export pepper prices have also dropped significantly.

Although the price has recovered nearly 10,000 VND/kg compared to June 2025, the current pepper price is still not enough to ease the worries of those who have invested in this agricultural product.

Pepper prices have dropped sharply.

The export situation is also not very promising. According to statistics from the Vietnam Pepper and Spice Association (VPSA), in the first half of July 2025, Vietnam only exported 10,808 tons of pepper, with a turnover of 70.3 million USD.

Compared to the same period last month, the export volume decreased by 7.8%, and the export value decreased by 11.1%.

Notably, the average export price of pepper in early July 2025 was only 6,500 USD/ton, significantly lower than the 6,881 USD/ton in the first half of 2025.

The main export markets for Vietnamese pepper during this period include the United States (1,472 tons), the United Arab Emirates (1,290 tons), and China (1,072 tons).

The director of a large agricultural enterprise in the Central Highlands said that the pepper market is heavily influenced by speculative factors, making the business no different from “gambling.” He explained that unlike coffee, which has a clear trading floor, the pepper market lacks transparency and does not have anyone to regulate it, causing many people to go bankrupt.

This year, many traders predicted that the price of pepper would rise to 180,000–200,000 VND/kg due to expectations of a market shortage.

Therefore, they actively gathered goods right from the harvest with a price of around 150,000 VND/kg.

However, the market then experienced many unforeseen disruptions. Especially, information about the countervailing duties from the US has caused pepper prices to drop significantly, putting these investors in a difficult situation.
