Pepper prices on May 9, 2025 are stable at a high level after several previous declines. Currently, the average price of pepper in key areas is 153,800 VND/kg.
According to experts, the unchanging pepper prices reflect the caution of businesses and traders when the market is seeking new signals from domestic consumption and export demand.
On the global market, pepper prices are relatively stable, with many countries experiencing flat prices, except for Indonesia, which has decreased again.
In the medium and long term, pepper prices are forecast to remain high due to stable demand from major consuming markets such as the US, the EU, and the Middle East, along with supply not showing signs of a strong recovery.
According to data from the Customs Department, in the first 4 months of 2025, Vietnam exported 73,647 tons of pepper, worth 508.36 million USD. Although the volume decreased by 11.3% compared to the same period in 2024, the value increased significantly by 44.4%, thanks to the average export price of pepper reaching 6,903 USD/ton, up 62.7%. In April 2025 alone, the price reached 6,968 USD/ton, a slight decrease of 0.5% compared to last month but still 57.1% higher than the same period last year.
Pepper prices are stable at a high level.
The Import-Export Department (Ministry of Industry and Trade) reported that global pepper prices fluctuated quite significantly in April: after decreasing in the first half of the month, prices recovered by the end of the month, although they were lower than at the end of last month.
The Import-Export Department said that the increase in pepper prices is due to a decrease in supply after the harvest and farmers’ mentality of holding their stock for higher prices. Meanwhile, the global market remains stable at a high level, creating a driving force for domestic prices. Experts believe that if demand from major markets such as the Middle East and Europe continues to rise sharply in the second quarter, pepper prices could go up further.
