Compared to the same period last year, the export turnover of pepper increased by 48%, although the export volume decreased.

According to the Vietnam Pepper and Spice Association (VPSA), pepper exports in the first 10 months of 2024 decreased by 1.9% in volume, but the value increased by 48% over the same period in 2023.

Pepper exports increased by 48%.

Specifically, in October 2024, Vietnam exported 18,493 tons of pepper of all kinds, up 7.9% over the same period last year. Export turnover in October reached 120.2 million USD, in which black pepper reached 99.8 million USD and white pepper reached 20.4 million USD. The average export price of black pepper in October was 6,284 USD/ton, down 28 USD, and the white pepper price was 8,029 USD/ton, up 191 USD.

In 10 months of 2024, Vietnam has exported 219,387 tons of pepper of all kinds, of which black pepper reached 193,892 tons and white pepper reached 25,495 tons. Total export turnover was more than 1.1 USD: black pepper reached 881.6 million USD and white pepper reached 162.6 million USD.

Compared to the same period last year, exports decreased by 1.9% (black pepper decreased by 3.3% and white pepper increased by 10.8%). However, export turnover increased by 48%. This is because pepper export prices in 2024 reached a much higher level than in 2023. The average export price of black pepper was 4,971 USD/ton, up 1,528 USD, and the white pepper price was 6,626 USD/ton, up 1,671 USD over the same period last year.

The US was the largest export market of Vietnam’s pepper in 10 months, with 62,553 tons, accounting for 28.5% of total exports. This result was up nearly 47% over the same period last year. Next were the UAE, Germany, India, and the Netherlands. China is now Vietnam’s sixth largest export market, but exports to this country decreased by 84% over the same period.
