Vietnam’s pepper exports reached nearly 245.7 thousand tons in 11 months of 2023, worth 833.2 million USD. This result was up 18% in volume and down 7.1% in turnover over the same period.

According to statistics from the General Department of Customs, in November 2023, pepper exports reached 20.2 thousand tons, equivalent to 77.7 million USD. It was up 4.3% in volume and 6.2% in value over the previous month. Compared to November 2022, the figure was up 23.7% in volume and 28.4% in value.

In 11 months of 2023, Vietnam’s pepper exports reached about 245.7 thousand tons, worth 833.2 million USD, up 18% in volume and down 7.1% in turnover over the same period last year.

In 11 months of 2023, pepper exports earned 833.2 million USD.

In November 2023, the average export price of Vietnam’s pepper increased to 3,839 USD/ton, the highest since the beginning of the year. Vietnam’s average export price of pepper in 11 months of this year reached 3,392 USD/ton, down 21.3% over the same period in 2022.

Regarding the market, the US remained the leading export market of Vietnam’s pepper in 11 months of the year. In addition, many markets continued to grow by 2 to 3 digits compared to the same period last year.

Notably, a country in Africa is actively importing this item from Vietnam. Specifically, pepper exports to Senegal in November reached 366 tons, worth nearly 1.2 million USD. This was a sharp increase of 210% in volume and 255% in turnover compared to November 2022. By the end of November, Senegal spent nearly 7 million USD importing 2,246 tons of pepper, up 39% in volume and 14% in value over the same period in 2022.

In the last November, the average export price of Vietnam’s pepper reached 3,839 USD/ton, an increase of 3.8% compared to November 2022. However, the average export price of pepper in 11 months of 2023 was only 3,392 USD/ton, down 21.3% over the same period in last year.

According to the Vietnam Pepper Association, since 2001, Vietnam has become the world’s largest exporter of pepper with a total export volume of 56,506 tons, accounting for 28% of the world’s total exports.

Vietnam has exported all of its pepper harvests in 2023. A portion of which was taken from imports and inventories from the previous year. It is expected that in 2023, pepper exports will reach 250,000 tons. Inventories in 2023 moving to 2024 will be the lowest in recent years./.
