Vietnam’s lychee exports are on the rise, with a value of 80 million USD in the first 7 months of 2025. This result is three times higher than in the same period in 2024.
According to the Customs Department, lychee exports in July 2025 reached nearly 35 million USD, a 20-fold increase compared to the same period last year. Overall, in the first 7 months of 2025, Vietnam’s lychee exports reached a historic milestone with a value of 80 million USD, more than 3 times higher than in the same period last year. China continues to be the largest consumer market, accounting for 71% with nearly 57 million USD, a fourfold increase compared to the same period last year. Additionally, Papua New Guinea surprisingly rose to second place with 6 million USD, 21 times higher than last year.
Other markets, such as the Netherlands, Australia, France, the USA, and the UK, saw impressive growth, ranging from 38% to over 280%.

Lychee exports set a new record.
The reasons for the breakthrough of Vietnamese lychees are reduced prices, high production, and a strong increase in import demand. Besides, the area under VietGAP and GlobalGAP standards is expanding rapidly, meeting strict standards from Japan, the US, and the EU.
Mr. Dang Phuc Nguyen, General Secretary of the Vietnam Fruit and Vegetable Association, said that the quality of lychee is increasingly improving thanks to modern preservation technology. At the same time, many businesses have proactively built value chains from production to consumption, helping to increase productivity and ensure consistent quality.
This year, for the first time, fresh Vietnamese lychee is available in the Costco supermarket system, North America’s largest retailer with over 635 stores in the US and Canada. Previously, Vietnamese lychee was only present in a few chains like Safeway. Getting into Costco is considered a major step forward, bringing this summer’s specialty products to a global retail channel.
The Vietnam Trade Office in San Francisco said that it will continue to support businesses in expanding their product portfolios and introducing more agricultural products with strong potential to the US.
According to the Department of Crop Production and Plant Protection, the 2025 crop is expected to yield 303,000 tons, a 30% increase compared to 2024. Lychee is currently grown mainly in Bac Giang and Hai Duong.
