Over the years, Son Thuy label products have overcome the difficulties of cultivation techniques, as well as the stringent technical requirements to succeed in exporting and conquering the EU market.

Director of Plant Protection Department, Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Hoa Binh province, Mr. Nguyen Hong Yen said that all technical requirements from the EU market for fresh fruit and vegetable products have been strictly fulfilled by Son Thuy longan growers from 2019 to now, specifically, the compliance with technical requirements in farming, field logging, monitoring of planting area codes, etc.

The sample of Son Thuy longan has been analyzed at the designated laboratory according to the EU standard. All three samples meet the technical requirements of 821 food safety standards under the EU requirements.

With the favorable climate and soil condition along with the persistence of the farmers, the longan tree has gradually had a strong foothold, becoming the main crop of the local people.

Up to now, the area of Xuan Thuy commune reaches nearly 200 ha, Son Thuy Cooperative alone reaches 34 ha.

According to the report of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Hoa Binh province, Son Thuy longan is the first product of Hoa Binh province to be issued with a Planting Area Code in 2019.

The planting area code is considered a boarding pass for the official export of this product to international markets, especially the EU, the toughest market.

Since 2016, Son Thuy longan products have been granted collective trademark protection by the Intellectual Property Department. After that, a series of certifications were issued on Food Safety (2016); VietGAP (2019); OCOP (2020) that helped Son Thuy longan reach out further to domestic and foreign markets.

From the efforts of the people, the participation of the authorities, specialized agencies, and enterprises, up to now, the first shipment of one tone was packaged for export to the EU market.

In the coming time, the Hoa Binh Department of Agriculture and Rural Development together with FUSA Organic Agriculture Joint Stock Company aims to export about 50 tones by 2022./.
