Although there are 15 days left to enter the main harvest, many traders and enterprises have contacted Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu’s family (Thanh Hong commune, Thanh Ha district, Hai Duong) for buying lychee. Ms. Thu’s 15 tonnes of lychee are being purchased at the price of 38,000 – 40,000 VND/kg, twice as high as the previous year.

“There are almost no pests this season. Lychee is qualified for export to many markets. With the current selling price and output, growers are very excited, ” Ms. Thu said.

Representatives of V-Phuc Green Agricultural Cooperative (Thanh Ha, Hai Duong) said that they have coordinated with exporters to export more than 11 tonnes of lychee to the UK, Germany, and the Netherlands. After a long time of following GlobalGAP standards, members of the cooperative are now very closely linked and do not have to worry about the output. The cooperative expects to export about 200 tonnes of GlobalGAP-standardized lychee to the EU market. The purchasing price at gardens has now been at a record high for many years now. It is expected that Thanh Ha lychee exported to EU countries will be sold for 600,000 to 650,000 VND/kg.

Ms. Ngo Thi Thu Hong – General Director of Ameii Vietnam Joint Stock Company, said that after a period of time bringing lychee into the markets quite successfully, the number of customers ordering lychee has increased rapidly this year, especially customers in difficult markets such as Japan and the EU.

According to the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Hai Duong, the province currently has 8,900 hectares of lychee. This year, the province continues to maintain 41 lychee regions under VietGAP standards with an area of 500 hectares and 11 lychee production regions under GlobalGAP standards with an area of 110 hectares. The province’s lychee products are available in most provinces and cities in the country and are exported to major markets such as China, Japan, the United States, France, Australia, and Singapore.
