Lam Dong province directed relevant units to support Da Huoai district and other localities to expand durian consumption, avoiding too much dependence on one market.
On July 19, Lam Dong Provincial People’s Committee sent a letter to relevant units on supporting durian production and consumption of Da Huoai district.
Accordingly, the People’s Committee of Lam Dong province assigned the Department of Industry and Trade to coordinate with the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development to support Da Huoai district and other localities to expand the consumption of durian and durian products on the domestic and international markets, avoiding too much dependence on one market.
Da Huoai district has about 6,000 ha of durian, of which over 3.5 thousand ha is for business with an output of about 40,000 tons.
At the same time, the People’s Committee of Lam Dong province assigned the Department of Industry and Trade to coordinate with the Market Management Department to strengthen the management and inspection of durian trading establishments and enterprises in the area according to regulations and brand protection of ” Da Huoai Durian”.
The Provincial People’s Committee assigned the People’s Committee of Da Huoai district to promote the development of the value chain for production, processing, and consumption of durian in the area to ensure sustainability. Along with that, the district needs to support the development of high-quality durian varieties.
Previously, on July 17, the Standing Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Lam Dong province received the information and recommendations of the resident to the People’s Committee of Lam Dong province on the sustainable production of durian. In particular, in the durian season of 2023, durian growers in Da Huoai district are excited about the harvest and the price. However, in order for the production and consumption of durian to be sustainable, people recommend the authorities to pay more attention and support.

Specially, the resident expect the government to focus on building link chains, especially, expanding the domestic durian consumption market of Da Huoai to avoid risks when the export market is in difficulty. At the sametime, the resident want the authorities to research, protect genetic resources, and develope high-quality durian varieties in Da Huoai district.
According to the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Da Huoai district, the durian area of the whole district is now nearly 6,000 ha, of which 3.5 thousand ha is for business with an output of about 40,000 tons. Durian in the locality is in harvest. The price of Ri6 duriann ranges from 45,000-52,000 VND/kg, and Dona durian from 60,000-70,000 VND/kg./.
