The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD) and the General Administration of Customs of China have just signed a protocol on the inspection, phytosanitary, and food safety requirements for Vietnam’s frozen durian export to China.
Dak Lak, which has the second-largest durian area and production in Vietnam, is actively preparing and ready to meet the export requirements when the Protocol comes into effect.
Dak Lak‘s frozen durian is ready to conquer the Chinese market.
The province has nearly 33,000 ha of durian, with an annual output of more than 280,000 tons. There are 23 packaging establishments and 68 planting areas granted codes to serve the export of fresh durian to China. The signing of the Protocol on the export of frozen durian to this market by the MARD and the General Department of Customs of China has opened up more opportunities for the durian industry in Vietnam in general and Dak Lak in particular.
Frozen durian is officially allowed for export to China, which will open up great opportunities to increase the value of products for Vietnam’s durian industry.
According to Mr. Nguyen Hoai Duong, Director of the Dak Lak Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, when frozen durian is officially exported to China, the form of processing will be diversified, helping to reduce pressure on the harvest while creating greater added value for the industry.
“Dak Lak’s large durian production will open up great opportunities for development in the coming time,” said Mr. Nguyen Hoai Duong.
Ms. Ngo Thi Minh Trinh, Vice Chairman of the People’s Committee of Krong Pac District, said that the locality is ready to meet the conditions for exporting frozen durian to the Chinese market.
According to the MARD, with the newly signed Protocol, Vietnam’s frozen durian export turnover in 2025 can reach 300 million USD.
