In the first half of 2025, Vietnam’s cashew industry achieved impressive export results, maintaing its position as the world’s leading country in cashew nut exports.

According to data from the Customs Department, in June 2025, Vietnam exported 67.93 thousand tons of cashew nuts, worth 463.59 million USD.

In the first six months of 2025, Vietnam exported 344.64 thousand tons of cashew nuts, worth 2.34 billion USD. This is a decrease of 3.3% in volume but an increase of 19.8% in value compared to the same period in 2024.

The average export price of Vietnamese cashew nuts was 6,812 USD/ton, a significant increase of 23.9% compared to the same period in 2024.

China continued to be the largest export market for Vietnamese cashew nuts, reaching 83.1 thousand tons, valued at 525.5 million USD. This is an increase of 26% in volume and 45% in value compared to the same period in 2024. The average export price to China was 6,812 USD/ton, an increase of 23.9% compared to the same period in 2024.

Cashew nut exports to China are forecast to be promising in the second half of 2025.

Cashew nut exports to China in the first half of 2025 increased due to the recovery of the Chinese economy, the rising demand for health-beneficial agricultural products, and Vietnamese enterprises proactively improving product quality to better meet the requirements of Chinese partners. This will be an important foundation for the Vietnamese cashew industry to continue maintaining its export growth momentum in the second half of 2025.

Meanwhile, cashew exports to the US continued to decline sharply, with 70.07 thousand tons, valued at 475.45 million USD. This is down 25.2% in volume and 6.2% in value compared to the same period in 2024. Although the US remains the second-largest consumer market for Vietnamese cashews, the continuous decline may affect cashew exports to this market in the long term. The US is currently diversifying its supply sources, gradually reducing its dependence on Asian markets.

The global cashew market size in 2024 is valued at 7.78 billion USD and is expected to reach 8.14 billion USD in 2025 and increase to 11.67 billion USD by 2033, according to Straits Research.

The growth driver of the cashew market is the development of the food processing industry, pushed by urbanization, changing consumer lifestyles, and the demand for convenient food. Accordingly, cashew nuts are widely used in the food processing industry to make snacks, candies, or bakery products.

As the world’s No. 1 exporter of cashew nuts, Vietnam continues to take advantage of its processing strength and food safety standards to meet the strict demands of the markets. In the second half of 2025, cashew nut exports to China are forecast to be promising, thanks to positive consumer trends, demand for healthy food, and the flexibility in market strategies of Vietnamese enterprises.
