Vietnam’s cashew nut exports remain in the world-leading position, bringing in an impressive revenue of 2.8 billion USD after 7 months. Despite a 2.6% decrease in output, a significant improvement in export prices helped increase the value by 18.3% compared to the same period in 2024.

According to the Customs Department, in July 2025, Vietnam exported 67,980 tons of cashews, worth 460.1 million USD. This was an increase of 1.3% in volume and 11.1% in value compared to July 2024. In the first 7 months of 2025, cashew nut exports reached 412.71 thousand tons, valued at 2.8 billion USD. Although the volume decreased by 2.6% compared to the same period in 2024, the value increased strongly by 18.3%, mainly due to a significant improvement in the average export price.

Specifically, the average export price of cashew nuts in the first 7 months of 2025 was 6,805 USD/ton, an increase of 21.5% compared to the same period last year. This is the highest increase in recent years, reflecting stable global demand and the competitiveness of Vietnamese products in the international market.

Vietnam earned USD 2.8 billion from cashew nut exports in the first 7 months of 2025, an increase of 18.3% compared to the same period last year.

China, the US, and the Netherlands continue to be Vietnam’s three largest cashew nut consumption markets, accounting for 22.4%, 20.3%, and 9.1% of the market share, respectively, over the past 7 months.

Cashew nut exports to China reached 96,230 tons, valued at 608.28 million USD, representing an increase of 28.8% in volume and 47% in value compared to the same period in 2024.

Meanwhile, cashew nut exports to the US reached 83,020 tons, valued at 561.13 million USD, a decrease of 27.5% in volume and 11.7% in value.

Vietnam’s cashew nut exports also recorded positive growth to other markets such as Germany, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Japan, Singapore, and Pakistan. Meanwhile, exports to some traditional markets such as the UK, Australia, Canada, Russia, Spain, and Thailand have declined.

Experts warn that to maintain sustainable growth, the cashew industry needs to focus on improving product quality, strictly following international food safety standards, and flexibly adapting to fluctuating demand from major markets. This includes investing in modern technology and building sustainable supply chains, especially in the context of climate change affecting raw material sources.

Along with coffee, rice, fruits and vegetables, cashew nuts are a billion-dollar agricultural product. The cashew industry continues to set new records, maintaining its position as the world’s No. 1 for the past 18 years, accounting for over 80% of the total global exported cashew production. In particular, in 2024, the cashew industry regained its export surplus position, with a trade surplus of 1.12 billion USD.

According to the 2024 Export-Import Report, Vietnam’s cashew nut exports last year reached 723,808 tons, with a total value of 4.34 billion USD. This was an increase of 12.4% in volume and 19.0% in value compared to 2023.

Since May 2024, the average export price of cashews has been steadily increasing, reaching 6,673 USD/ton in December 2024. Overall for the year, the average export price reached 6,001 USD/ton, an increase of 6.1% compared to 2023. Vietnamese cashews are exported to 90 countries and territories.

The Ministry of Agriculture and Environment has set a target of 4.5 billion USD in exports for 2025. To reach this figure, exports of about 1.7 billion USD are needed in the last 5 months of the year. The Vietnam Cashew Association (VINACAS) believes this is a feasible goal, as cashew consumption usually increases significantly during the year-end holiday and Tet seasons.
