Coffee, rice, and vegetables are three agricultural products of Vietnam that had an export value of one billion or more in the first quarter of 2024.
According to data from the General Statistics Office (GSO), in March 2024, Vietnam’s agricultural products earned 2.26 billion USD. In particular, coffee was the item with the highest turnover of 641 million USD, up 32% over the same period last year. Followed was rice with 637 million USD, up 25%. The turnover of fruit and vegetables was 414 million USD, down 0.4%. Cashew nuts reached 289 million USD, down 2.2%.
The export turnover of cassava and cassava products reached 160 million USD, up 52% over the same period last year. Pepper exports reached 108 million USD, up slightly by 1.6%. Tea reached 16 million USD, up 23%.

Accumulated in the first three months of 2024, Vietnam’s export turnover of agricultural products reached 06 billion USD, equivalent to 6.4% of Vietnam’s total export value to the world.
In the first quarter of the year, there were three agricultural products of Vietnam with a billion USD turnover or more which were coffee, rice, and vegetables. Specifically, coffee exports reached 1.89 billion USD, up 54% over the same period last year. In this quarter, coffee exports also increased by 44.4%, to 799,000 tons. Rice was the second item with a billion USD turnover of 1.37 billion USD, equal to an increase of 40%. Rice exports also increased by 12%, reaching 2.07 million tons. Next were fruit and vegetables with 1.22 billion USD, up 25%.
Among agricultural products, Vietnam exported 147,000 tons of cashew nuts with a value of 782 million USD, up 31.8% in volume and 20.5% in value compared to the same period last year. Exports of cassava and cassava products reached 989,000 tons, reaching 451 million USD, up 1.2% in volume and 21.1% in value.
Pepper exports in the quarter reached 56,000 tons, worth 232 million USD. This was the only item in the group that reduced both volume and export value with -26.5% and -0.4%, respectively.
Vietnam’s tea exports were 28,000 tons with a value of 45 million USD, up 30% in volume and 27.2% in turnover, respectively./.
