Following March, April is the next month in 2024 that Vietnam’s agricultural and fishery exports to achieve a turnover of over 3 billion USD.

According to the latest data from the General Statistics Office (GSO), in April 2024, Vietnam’s exports of agricultural and fishery products reached 3.13 billion USD. Although this result decreased slightly by 1.1% compared to the last month, April was the second consecutive month that Vietnam’s agricultural and aquatic product exports earned a turnover of over 3 billion USD this year. Specifically, exports of this category reached 2.96 billion USD in January 2024, 1.98 billion USD in February, and 3.17 billion USD in March.

Agricultural and fishery exports achieved 3 billion USD in the second consecutive month.

In particular, in terms of categories, in April, fishery exports had a turnover of 730 million USD, down 1.5% over the same period last year (YoY), being the category with the largest export value in the group. This is followed by vegetables and fruits with a turnover of 520 million USD, up 33% YoY.

Rice export turnover was 654 million USD, up 20% over the same period last year. The increase in value due to both the quantity and export price of rice in the month increased compared to the same period last year. Specifically, rice exports increased from 1.04 million tons (April 2023) to 1.05 million tons this month. Rice export prices increased by 18% YoY, from 523 USD/ton to 622 USD/ton.

In April 2024, Vietnam exported 170,000 tons of coffee, with an average export price of 3,788 USD/ton, up 3.9% in quantity and 55% in price over the same period. These two factors have brought the total coffee export turnover to 644 million USD, up 61% over the same period last year.

Cashew nut exports reached 65,000 tons, worth 350 million USD, up 25.9% YoY in volume and 14.1% YoY in value, respectively. However, the average export price in the month decreased by 9.4% compared to the same period last year, only reaching 5,384 USD/ton.

Agricultural and fishery products with export turnover of more than 100 million USD also include pepper with 117 million USD and cassava with 104 million USD, which increased by 40% and 37% YoY, respectively. The average export price of these two items in the month increased by 37% and 3.8% YoY, respectively, reaching 4,333 USD/ton and 416 USD/ton.

Tea exports earned 18 million USD with an export volume of 11,000 tons. Compared to the same period last year, the quantity and value increased by 36.5% and 32% YoY, respectively. The average export price reached 1,636 USD/ton, down 3.4% YoY./.
