After 9 months, cashew exports reached 3.77 billion USD out of the 4.5 billion USD target for 2025. The Vietnam Cashew Association (Vinacas) forecasts that the export value could exceed 4.5 billion USD and even reach 5 billion USD if the upward trend continues.
According to the Customs Department, in September 2025, Vietnam’s cashew nut exports reached 72,440 tons, worth 491.29 million USD. This is an increase of 4.2% in volume and 3.9% in value compared to August.
Overall for the first 9 months, Vietnam exported 554,760 tons of cashew nuts, valued at 3.77 billion USD, representing an increase of 1.6% in volume and 19.5% in value compared to the same period in 2024. The cashew industry now only needs about 730 million USD more in the fourth quarter to reach the 4.5 billion USD target set by the Vinacas. If the current growth momentum continues, export turnover could easily reach the 5 billion mark this year.

Vietnam’s cashew industry is approaching its target of 4.5 billion USD.
According to the Import-Export Department (Ministry of Industry and Trade), the average export price of cashew nuts in September was 6,781 USD/ton. This is a slight decrease of 0.3% compared to August but still an increase of 3.9% compared to the same period in 2024. On average, in the first 9 months of the year, the price was 6,801 USD/ton, an increase of up to 17.6% compared to the same period last year. This result reflects a strong recovery in the global market.
In September, China, the United States, the Netherlands, Germany, and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) were Vietnam’s top five cashew export markets, accounting for over 58% of total export volume. Except for the United States, exports to the remaining markets all grew strongly compared to the same period last year.
China remains the largest market, with 17,300 tons of cashews, worth nearly 111 million USD. This is an increase of over 41% compared to the previous month. In 9 months, exports to China reached 125,690 tons, worth 797.42 million USD, an increase of 37.4% in volume and 54.1% in value compared to the same period in 2024.
Exports to the United States are significantly lower than in 2024 despite being improved compared to August. Vietnam exported 12.76 thousand tons, worth 83.7 million USD, to the United States in September, an increase of nearly 9% compared to the previous month. However, overall for the first 9 months, exports to this market reached 107.51 thousand tons, worth 721.28 million USD. This is a decrease of 28.8% in volume and 17.3% in value compared to the same period last year.
In the final months of the year, US importers may increase their purchases again, but many units are waiting for the tax negotiations to develop appropriate import strategies. According to sources from US partners, nut consumption in the market remains stable, but importers are temporarily reducing purchases to clear large inventories from 2024. Positive adjustments to tax policies will lead to a sharp increase in US import demand.
The Vinacas said that importers boost their purchases in the fourth quarter to get ready for the festival season. The global consumption of nuts is on the rise, and forecasts indicate that export prices will remain stable, thereby creating favorable conditions for Vietnamese businesses. Positive signals regarding price, market, and export turnover growth rate are an important foundation for the cashew industry to break through in the final months of the year.
